The Book Festival in Blackheath
A book festival for Blackheath
BookHeath was set up by Averil Leimon, in association with Age Exchange, to celebrate the love of books and to raise funds for the charity. Blackheath is filled with bookshops, books at the famous duck pond, books in the station and of course the wonderful monthly book sale at Age Exchange - so why not hold a Book Festival?
In the library at the Caledonian Club, Averil decided with a degree of grandiosity that this was going to be a fabulous annual event, growing year on year. She enlisted a raft of local authors for a variety of events, then realised there would be a mountain of work and lots of admin (not her favourite bit, ever).
In the weeks leading up to 19 September we will be announcing wonderful authors and events!

Raising funds
BookHeath 2024 will be raising funds for Age Exchange.
Age Exchange breaks boundaries as the only arts charity embedded within in a social care provider (Community Integrated Care) and has a unique mission to bring arts, culture and creative expression into the lives of thousands of people who draw upon social care, live with dementia and face isolation.
